Using NYU Files 2.0 to Create Your Website

Select the Files channel on your NYU Home Page.

  1. Locate "Files 2.0"
  2. Click "Activate your public folder now." Agree to the rules.
  3. A "public" folder will be created. All the files that you put in this directory will be accessible on the web.
  4. An "index.html" file will be created. this is the home page for your website.
  5. Your website's URL will be: https://files.nyu.edu/NETID/public *Note this is YOUR netID*
  6. Go back to NYU Home and select "Edit"

To upload pages to your site:

  1. From the Files 2.0 document menu, click on the "public" folder
  2. Click on the "Upload" button. A file upload dialogue box will open.
  3. Browse your computer to select the files to upload. If you are updating files already on the server, select the checkbox to overwrite what is already on the server.
  4. Click the "Start Upload" button

To upload multiple files (first time only):

  1. From the Files 2.0 document menu, click on the "public" folder
  2. Click on the "Upload" button. A file upload dialogue box will open.
  3. Follow the link to the "Advanced Upload" option.
  4. Download the JAVA helper program
  5. Click "Add files" to browse your computer
  6. Drag and drop files or selections of files into the upload box
