Digital Archive
My contribution to the digital archive will focus on the public funerals of A.I.D.S. victims during the crisis and the relationships of mourning, performance and activism enacted in the public sphere. I plan to explore The Downtown Collection, prioritizing digital video as historical material.

My research has broadened as I've gotten through the semester and realized the lack of narratives already written about this period in New York City. I feel that I can't focus on funerals when there is so much complexity to discuss. Instead, I am structuring my work around the idea of the body in public space. I will discuss the way AIDS impacted public sex, public access to medical knowledge and care and public death and funerals.
